Q1. What Made You Decide To Establish Your Own Brand? What Is Meaning Of Brand Name?
ブランド設立のきっかけは何ですか？また、ブランド名の意味を教えてください。
I originally studied design with a passion for costume jewelry and created items of metal and stone jewelry. I felt that the number of people with metal allergies was increasing every year, and when I was looking for materials that are gentle to the skin, I came across silk thread from Yamaga, Kumamoto, and was shocked by its brilliance and began to use it. "Tefu" of Atelier Tefu means "butterfly" in old Japanese. I would like to deliver that light and happy feeling when a butterfly lands on your body through my work.
元々コスチュームジュエリーに憧れてデザインを学び、金属と石のジュエリーを制作しておりました。年々金属アレルギーの方が増えているように感じ、肌に優しい素材を探していた時に、熊本・山鹿（やまが）の絹糸に出会い、その輝きに衝撃を受けて使用しはじめたことがきっかけです。アトリエテフの「テフ」は古い日本語で「蝶」の意味です。蝶が身体にとまったときのあの軽やかな幸福感を作品を通してお届けしたいと思っています。
Q2. Please Describe Your Production Process.
商品はどのような工程を経て出来上がるのでしょうか？
The silk threads that Atelier Tefu mainly uses are handmade by Masami Hanai, a traditional silkworm farmer. From the cocoons of silkworms lovingly raised on mulberry leaves, beautiful silk threads are produced in the traditional way of "zaguri" or "hand spinning," and dyed with familiar plants and trees. Inspired by the seasonal threads, I create freely by crocheting and sometimes winding the threads into parts.
アトリエテフがメインに使用している絹糸は伝統的養蚕農家の花井雅美さんの手仕事によるものです。桑葉で愛情込めて育てられたお蚕さんの繭から「座繰り」や「手紡ぎ」という昔ながらの方法で美しい絹糸がつくられ、身近な草木で染められます。私はその四季折々の糸からインスピレーションをもらって、かぎ針で編んだり、時にはパーツに糸を巻いたりして自由に制作しています。
Q3. What Made You Interested In NY Market?
ニューヨーク市場に興味を持った理由は何ですか？
I participated in this event because I want people overseas to know the beauty of Japanese sericulture culture and handmade silk yarns. For me, the United States is a country that has taught me a lot about the joys of handicrafts, and I am very happy to be able to present my work here.
日本の養蚕文化と手仕事の絹糸の美しさを海外の方々にも知っていただきたいという思いがあり、参加いたしました。私にとってアメリカは手芸の楽しさをたくさん教えてもらった国でもあり、今回作品をお届けできてとても嬉しいです。
